About us
We are Cubola Productions, a Belizean publishing company dedicated to producing educational books, literature, and cultural works that celebrate the history and heritage of Belize and the Caribbean. Our publications span various genres, including textbooks, fiction, and non-fiction, with a strong focus on local authors and themes. Through our work, we aim to promote Belizean identity and education.
The story of Cubola
Since 1973, Cubola Productions has been a pioneer in Belizean publishing. Our products span books, brochures, posters, and public awareness campaigns. Titles for both academic and general markets include textbooks, specialist works, novels, short stories, poetry, and tourist publications. We maintain close relationships with numerous government and non-governmental organisations and have been particularly active in sociology, anthropology, and education. Many of our books are used in schools throughout Belize. Our efficient distribution network and high-quality publishing services have set the standard in Belize for over 50 years.
A key aspect of our work is our commitment to Belize’s social welfare, providing a means to communicate information on health, human rights, and other vital issues. We are especially known for our educational textbooks, which focus on social studies and literature from a uniquely Belizean perspective. Their strength lies in high-quality design and well-researched, up-to-date content, contributing to Belize’s most important resource: our children.
Cubola’s approach combines informative, educational content with high-quality design and production. Our staff and consultants include anthropologists, historians, political analysts, scientists, public health specialists, educators, designers, graphic artists, photographers, journalists, poets, and writers—all dedicated to producing top-quality publications about Belize. We also support emerging writers and the academic community.
We have established ongoing partnerships with Belize’s universities, and our director is a founding member and past president of the Caribbean Publishers Network (CAPNET), an association of independent publishers across four language groups. This non-profit organisation recognises publishing as a cultural enterprise and contributes to the Caribbean’s socio-economic and cultural development. Connections through CAPNET and similar networks worldwide provide opportunities for co-publishing, wider distribution, new technologies, and professional training.
